“Haiti Chérie, love thoughts to an island beauty and creole culture”

Citrusy, Woody, Spicy, faintly Nutty.

Ayiti Pasyon Vetiver (Passion Vetiver de Haiti). Unisex. Natural Perfume

About the Collection Vetiver Expressionism by Flower: The Vetiver is a Grass, which roots produce one of the most complex perfumery materials with captivating nuances from oud-like tones, to wood or honey notes depending on its terroir: country origins, type of soil, whether it is cultivated or wild and the processing techniques. NadiaZ exploits the various scent profiles of Haiti most prized vertiver to draw subtle harmonies like a painter palette. The Collection is an hommage to this plant modest in appearance but hiding a true treasure. Like the Expressionist Movement, that bored famous artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Donray, Wassily Kandinsky or Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka, the concept of the Collection is to decline atmospheres and emotions from a Vetiver Heart into variations compositions where a Flower is placed in the Spotlight. For Ayiti Pasyon Vetiver Unisex , it is the Coffee Blossom (Coffea arabica), for Coral Jasmine Bengal Moon Woman it is the very rare Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (Coral Jasmine/Parijata), for Noon Rainforest Light Unisex it is a particular variety of green scented Jasmine called Auri (Jasminum auriculatum) seldom used in western perfumery and even less as a head note, and finally for Cretaceous Oud Era Unisex  it is the Cassie Flower (Acacia farnesiana ) married with the majestic Oud (Aquilaria agallocha).

Atmosphere:
A depiction of Haiti heritage and contrasts. A singular island both blessed and cursed by history and nature. Embracing its rich creole culture like a fragrance crucible, when the initial cacophony give birth to unison. A spontaneous gathering in Port-au-Prince streets under the zenith sun, market women proudly wearing fresh limes on their heads to prepare their interpretation of Rhum Arrangé, distant farmers from the coffee plantations bringing the fruit of their labour to the capital, vaudoo mystics and healers with their pouch of magical herbs, amongst which Vetiver, street food sellers burning green smoky woods collected around. The sweat, the noise, the exhuberance and the energy of the bustling crowd. And suddenly from nowhere, or maybe from deep inside, from the beating heart, the pulse of life itself, rises the music: the festival has begun.

Notes:
A Union made in Heaven of the enigmatic coffee blossom and the most vibrant Haitian Vetiver, so much so that that it keeps the mind boggling: Where does the Vetiver end? Where does the Coffee Blossom start? A bright citrusy, slightly spicy with green undertones fragrance, crisp like a Lime zest in ice cold water yet somewhat woody and nutty enough to envelop the skin in a burst of energy.

Aging potential (consult storage instructions)

Moderate to low, this perfume ages well in terms of scent profile particularly its resin content but special attention needs to be given to the citrus content, which is high here, as it has a higher potential for oxidation.

100% natural plant ingredients. No synthetic fragrances. Vegan.

All NadiaZ products are made with Virgin Vegetable Oils and GMO free. No chemical preservatives, parabens or mineral oils. Patch tested on humans. No animal testing.

The Collection Vetiver Expressionism by Flower aims to put the spotlight on the essence of individual ingredients in a smaller number than the 15-200 NadiaZ signature Perfume harmonies. Independantly of their number, NadiaZ perfumes may contain plants which bear unique active ingredients and interact with each other in holistic compositions. The featured plants are a selection of some of them for you to discover. Please check the menu NadiaZ Ingredients to learn more about the brand repertoire. NadiaZ is involved in research on the specific phytotherapeutic properties of indigenous plants, however perfumes enter in the cosmetic category and not in the medicinal one, which is why legislation do not make it possible to describe those on this website or the brand documentations. Feel free to google them or check on Wikipedia to get more information, or send an email for specific questions.

Vetiver (Vetivera zizanioides):
A tall perennial scented grass mainly cultivated in the tropics – in India, Tahiti, Java, Salvador and especially in Haiti – its root can reach deeper than some trees, which besides being the source of an exquisite oil, offers a range of benefits to the communities such as to fight soil erosion or as a natural detoxifier. It bears captivating nuances from oud-like tones, to wood or honey, sweet, oriental, almost tobacco-like aroma, or a smoky green depending on its terroir: country origins, type of soil, whether it is cultivated or wild and the processing techniques. The Java Vetiver is known for its distinct smoky flavor while its Haiti counterpart is in comparison round and ambery. The soil composition has a large role to play, in Haiti depending on the mineral nature of the soil, it can give birth to an extraordinary Vetiver de Pierre or Stone Vetiver which sweet nature is virtually exempt from the smoky and grassy notes, bearing even more resemblance to Oud. In addition, the production in Haiti provides much needed income to its impoverished population. For a vibrant history of Vetiver through the ages, we recommend reading the Osmotheque article “Vetiver : a palette of woody fragrances”“Vetiver : a palette of woody fragrances”“Vetiver : a palette of woody fragrances”.

Coffee Flower (Coffee robusta/arabica):
RReminiscent to Jasmine in shape and fragrance, coffee flower surprise by their floral yet spicy scent, with vanilla and roasted mokka undertones which makes a very rare absolute, seldom used in perfumery notably due to its high price. As a single ingredient, it is maybe one of the most complex flower as its mix of woody and floral elements is so subtle that one would swear it is the result of a perfumer bouquet composition. Its notes marry so well with the sweetest Vetiver, as a union made in heaven, that it keeps the mind boggling: Where does the Vetiver end? Where does the Coffee Blossom start? .

Lime Petitgrain (Citrus aurantifolia):
The oil is made from the leaves and twigs of the Lime tree. It bears a distinctive citrus scent in a woody and somewhat spicy bouquet. The oil is often used to reduce anxiety, boost energy and uplift the mood. In phytotherapy, it is used to help the respiratory system and is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. However, its high content in limonene can cause contact allergies, it is therefore not to be used regularly or in large quantities.

Ximenia Oil (Ximenia americana):
Also known as African Sour Plum and originating from the Southern Africa Savannah, this oil has a unique honey-like consistency and is extremely moisturizing. It is reputed to be antimicrobial, and stimulates the sebaceous glands, promoting optimal skin functions. It is an excellent fixative for perfumes, thus creating lasting aromas.

Use
Being ultraconcentrated and plant-based, this perfume is very special, creating a longlasting scented layer marrying with the skin. So spray from a distance, on skin not exposed to the sun or on clothes, leave 4 mins —until the alcohol evaporates— and only THEN smell. However, due to the high dosage of Lime Oils, we recommend to apply this concentrated version on clothes.

Caution
Shake before use to avoid blocking the spray pump. In case of blockage, remove the pump top and rinse well with water.

For external use only. Do not use on children and, as a precaution, avoid using perfumes during pregnancy as well as in the presence of children below 2 years old. Many essential oils can cause photosensitivity therefore do not use on skin exposed to the sun. All perfumes contain volatile substances; asthmatics may be best advised to test their reaction first, to apply in a well-ventilated place, and to choose roll-on applicators. Note that this perfume has a high dosage in Lime Oil. Do not use every day and preferably not directly on the skin! Wear this perfume for special days or nights, enquire about the Eau de Toilette version, or alternate with other NadiaZ creations to diversify your exposure to valuable yet powerful plants constituents. Do not use on light colored fabrics; for coloured fabrics, test first on a small patch, and spray from a distance after mixing well to avoid oil staining.

Allergies
Contains tree nuts, kernel and unrefined virgin seed oils. May have been in contact with bee and dairy products. Unsuitable for persons sensitive to Limonene (Lime Oil). Allergens occur naturally in essential oils; to prevent allergies, it is recommended to use in reasonable quantities, alternate perfumes, or apply on clothes. Likewise, it is recommendable to reduce all other sources of allergens at home (ambient perfumes, deodorizers, scented candles, harsh detergents, etc).

Storage
Store in a dark, dry and cool place. This is a natural product subject to small variations in color, scent and texture. This product is highly inflammable; keep away from any flame or heat, no not spray on an open flame or other ignition source. Keep out of reach from children. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately and consult a doctor. Use before expiration date (24 months).

NadiaZ formulations favor the preservation of the active ingredients by using virgin plant oils, thus many perfumes have several highly valuable phases, or sediments, which need to be blended by shaking before use. Waxes and butters may solidify in cold and regain fluidity when gently warmed up with your hands or in lukewarm water.

As many of the perfume ingredients are wild indigenous plants extracts, NadiaZ perfumes may vary slightly in scent, depending on ingredient origin, climate and harvest conditions, extraction methods and processing. While all NadiaZ ingredients concentrations are adjusted by the perfumer’s nose, NadiaZ aims for uttermost quality in its materials, without standardization, sourcing them from a wide variety of locations and producers. This minimizes their ecological footprint and involves working with smaller communities. As a result, this limits the environmental impact on a single geographical origin and improves the sustainability of harvesting practices, as well as reducing climatic risks.

About perfume aging

As a policy NadiaZ recommends to follow the storage instructions and expiration date as per the cosmetics legislation, particularly as we cannot guarantee the quality of your storage conditions at home. However, as for Grand Cru wines, some perfumes have aging potential and other not. NadiaZ perfume compositions make a great use of resins that just like oud, vetiver or ambergris, get more complexity with time, while citrus require a special attention due to their oxydative susceptibility. NadiaZ unique formulations and indigenous oil mix ensure an improved stability, however they remain natural and thus fragile.    In our workshop, perfumes are aged first till optimal level, tested regularly for stability and scent profile evolution and only poured in individual bottles fresh before sale. Mini-formats should never be aged as their small volume size and unsealed bottle present more risk for oxidation.
