NadiaZ perfumes may contain 15-150 plants which bear unique active ingredients and interact with each other in NadiaZ holistic compositions. The featured plants are a selection of some of them for you to discover. Please check the menu NadiaZ Ingredients to learn more about the brand repertoire. NadiaZ is involved in research on the specific phytotherapeutic properties of indigenous plants, however perfumes enter in the cosmetic category and not in the medicinal one, which is why legislation do not make it possible to describe those on this website or the brand documentations. Feel free to google them or check on Wikipedia to get more information, or send an email for specific questions.

Agarwood (Aquilaria agallocha):
Reputed to be the most expensive wood in the world, Agarwood (Oudh in Arabic) is formed as a result of parasitic intervention on the tree. While the trees have become scarce, especially in India, thankfully replanting efforts have been successful. The Agarwood scent has been revered throughout the Orient since time immemorial, and used in Arabic perfumery as a signature scent. It is powerful and pervasive, with the tiniest amount being quite perceptible. Often reserved for male fragrances, NadiaZ ingeniously blends it to infuse women’s perfumes with mystery and character.

oud

Muhuhu (Brachyleana hutchinsii):
The Muhuhu tree, also called African Sandalwood, mainly grows along the Eastern African Coast and produces a rare indigenous oil. Its balsamic, woody and sweet aroma stimulates the practice of meditation and reduces stress.

Muhuhu

Mushrooms:
Nadia and her father personally collect edible wild Swiss mushrooms, some highly prized for their gustative properties and others which are largely ignored. She also procures them from continental Europe, among other places, to prepare exclusive extracts through her bespoke production techniques. Mushroom availability varies immensely between the seasons by and year, thus the proportion used in perfumes can vary.

mushrooms

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin):
Native to tropical regions in Asia, some of the finest productions of this herb are in Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Its quality differs greatly depending on the processing and maturing techniques used. NadiaZ uses patchouli for its fine, light, sweet yet hearthy aroma, blending so masterfully into the perfume composition that it is almost imperceptible.

patchouli

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao):
Rich in anti-aging polyphenols and theobromin, Cocoa helps maintain the skin’s collagen levels and is a mood enhancer.

cocoa-fruit

cocoa-beans

Carnation (Dianthus cariophyllus):

Butter:

butter

Mimosa (Acacia decurrens):
These puffy flowers, from Acacia trees, found from Africa to India to Australia, are reminiscent of a mother’s soft embrace, yet enigmatic and elusive. Honey-like with hints of wood and grass, this aroma magically reveals itself once every other scent wears off.

mimosa

Massoia (Cryptocaria massoia):
An indigenous tree from New Guinea, Massoia has been used for traditional ointments by Balinese women for centuries. The bark of the tree has a sweet creamy coconut-like aroma and is one of the very few natural sources of lactones, which are otherwise produced synthetically. The concentrated oil may be considered irritant for the skin, as is Cinnamon, and therefore legislation may vary between countries. NadiaZ Perfumes, however, uses it in very small concentration sand in a specifically designed oily substrate that reduces irritations. Its distinctive fragrance will reach in and awaken sweet emotions.

massoia

Rum:
NadiaZ has carefully selected an extract to bring to this perfume the quintessence of pure sugar cane Martinican rum with woody-balsamic, fruity notes, aged to perfection. Even the faintest trace of this aroma provokes the mind to adventure to exotic destinations.

rhum

Tonka Bean (Dipteryx odorata):
Native to Latin America, where they are mostly grown by rural households, Tonka beans have a magical vanilla-like, caramelized biscuit scent, prized in perfumery and gastronomy. They add an exquisite, unmistakable touch bringing new depths to a composition.

tonka-bean

Beeswax (Apis mellifera):
Made from honeycomb, beeswax absolute has honey, pollen and skin-like notes that confer it a subtle, soft, cocooning scent.

honey

Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum):
Sandalwood is prized for its rich, sweet, spiritual and woody scent. Used in traditional medicine and religious rituals for millennia, it has been brought to the verge of extinction in India. NadiaZ sources Sandalwood from a variety of species around the globe, from Australia to New Caledonia, where it is protected and sustainably harvested.

sandalwood

Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense):
The Pequi tree is found in Brazil and Paraguay. Pequi is a tasty edible fruit, popular in some areas of Brazil where it is used by the population for food, cosmetics and medicine. NadiaZ Perfumes is the very first perfume line to introduce Pequi oil as an ingredient thanks to its quintessential tropical fruit scent.

pequi-on-tree

pequi

Vetiver (Vetivera zizanioides):
A tall perennial scented grass mainly cultivated in the tropics – in India, Tahiti, Java and Haiti – it bears a woody, sweet, oriental, almost tobacco-like aroma, depending from where it is sourced. Production in Haiti provides much needed income to its impoverished population.

vetiver

Opoponax (Commiphora erythraea):
Also known as Sweet Myrrh, this sacred resin originates from the arid lands of Somalia and Ethiopia. Traded since ancient times and used in rituals dating back 4000 years, its scent is slightly green, sweet and sparkly, slightly acidic like Champagne, it boosts the immune system.

commiphora-myrrha-2

commiphora-myrrha

commiphora-myrrha2

Ximenia Oil (Ximenia americana):
Also known as African Sour Plum and originating from the Southern Africa Savannahs, this oil has a unique honey-like consistency and is extremely moisturizing. It is reputed to be antimicrobial, and stimulates the sebaceous glands, promoting optimal skin functions. It is an excellent fixative for perfumes, thus creating lasting aromas.

Use
Being ultraconcentrated and plant-based, this perfume is very special, creating a longlasting scented layer marrying with the skin. So spray from a distance, on skin not exposed to the sun, leave 4 mins —until the alcohol evaporates— and only THEN smell. For a fainter scent, apply to clothes.

Caution
Shake before use to avoid blocking the spray pump. In case of blockage, remove the pump top and rinse well with water. Remove the shona stone lid first since this is not fixed to the cap. Once the bottle is empty, the stone can be removed from the cap and used for decoration and in art collections.

For external use only. Do not use on children and, as a precaution, avoid using perfumes during pregnancy. Many essential oils can cause photosensitivity therefore do not use on skin exposed to the sun. All perfumes contain volatile substances; asthmatics may be best advised to test their reaction first, to apply in a well-ventilated place, and to choose roll-on applicators. Wear this perfume for special days or nights, or alternate with other NadiaZ creations to diversify your exposure to valuable yet powerful plants constituents. It is not advisable for people with liver conditions. Do not use on light colored fabrics; for coloured fabrics, test first on a small patch, and spray from a distance after mixing well to avoid oil staining.

Allergies
Contains tree nuts, kernel and unrefined virgin seed oils. May have been in contact with bee and dairy products. To limit the occurrence of allergies, it is recommendable to reduce sources of allergens at home (ambient perfumes, deodorizers, scented candles, harsh detergents, humidity and molds, smoke, etc) and test for food or contact allergies.

Storage
Store in a dark, dry and cool place. This is a natural product subject to small variations in color, scent and texture. This product is highly inflammable; keep away from any flame or heat, no not spray on an open flame or other ignition source. Keep out of reach from children. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately and consult a doctor. Use before expiration date (24 months).

NadiaZ formulations favor the preservation of the active ingredients by using virgin plant oils, thus many perfumes have several highly valuable phases, or sediments, which need to be blended by shaking before use. Waxes and butters may solidify in cold and regain fluidity when gently warmed up with your hands or in lukewarm water.

As many of the perfume ingredients are wild indigenous plants extracts, NadiaZ perfumes may vary slightly in scent, depending on ingredient origin, climate and harvest conditions, extraction methods and processing. While all NadiaZ ingredients concentrations are adjusted by the perfumer’s nose, NadiaZ aims for uttermost quality in its materials, without standardization, sourcing them from a wide variety of locations and producers. This minimizes their ecological footprint and involves working with smaller communities. As a result, this limits the environmental impact on a single geographical origin and improves the sustainability of harvesting practices, as well as reducing climatic risks.

About perfume aging

As a policy NadiaZ recommends to follow the storage instructions and expiration date as per the cosmetics legislation, particularly as we cannot guarantee the quality of your storage conditions at home. However, as for Grand Cru wines, some perfumes have aging potential and other not. NadiaZ perfume compositions make a great use of resins that just like oud, vetiver or ambergris, get more complexity with time, while citrus require a special attention due to their oxydative susceptibility. NadiaZ unique formulations and indigenous oil mix ensure an improved stability, however they remain natural and thus fragile.    In our workshop, perfumes are aged first till optimal level, tested regularly for stability and scent profile evolution and only poured in individual bottles fresh before sale. Mini-formats should never be aged as their small volume size and unsealed bottle present more risk for oxidation.

    Espiritu Pirata Fragrance Reviews

    timorusaki:
Pirata is probably one of the strangest gourmands I’ve ever smelled, but by far one of my all time favorites.

It smells very aromatic there’s quite a lot going on in this scent, there’s the gourmand nuances like honey, vanilla, cocoa, and tonka bean, but there are also some floral and spices as well, it’s quite a nose full to decrypt this scent but it’s very beautiful nonetheless.

If you read my other reviews on this house I like to talk a lot about the texture of their fragrances, they have quite a unique feel to them and this one is no exception. This also has the thick almost syrupy quality as most the other Nadia Z fragrances, which in this case really brings out the gourmand appeal of the scent, creating a more authentic gourmand experience. Honey doesn’t just smell like honey, it feels like it too.

This fragrance was said to be inspired by the spice trade era and the scent is suppose to reminisce the smell of those spices, and I can definitely agree on that. The spices are very exotic smelling, it’s like you’re standing on the port where the spices where delivered, while the breeze carries the aroma of different spices around the air, and as you walk around you contently get whiffs of delicious, exotic spices. It’s simply a very wonderful experience.

On to performance this perform quite well, it last a good 8-9 hours off my skin in cold weather, so I do expect that it will last longer in warmer weather. Projection is good for about 1-2 hours before it starts to project more softly. Overall, happy with performance, could be better but this last all day long so I can’t really complain.

In conclusion, if you’re into gourmands and spices this is one fragrance that you must get a sample of. I was a unique experience for me, a very phenomenal experience, and I believe it’d be the same for you as well.

Thanks for reading! Have a great day guys!

    nardius:
This stuff (like everything by NadiaZ) is very difficult to decipher but let’s just say I get an unusual form of woodiness, dried up rum and a carnation/patchouli touch that gives an outdated cologne thing (like Aramis JHS) way in the background. The overall blend has a feeling of ‘where have you been’ as opposed to ‘what are you wearing’. In general, I find it good; no extreme response here.

    Espiritu Pirata:
Boozy perfume of rum, sweetened by honey and balanced by cocoa and beeswax. It feels very natural and spicy. It’s warm and a bit sweet. Woods and resins complete this complex fragrance.

ESPÍRITU PIRATA MAN, DE NADIA Z
